the k20a3 and a2 are two totally different motors.
Base RSX and Civic SI are both K20A3
Are the internals the same?
Some concrete knowledge evidence would greatly be appreciated.
If you say I read somewhere or heard from someone please post a link.
Thank you

Yeah, RSX Type-S does not have electric steering system.Originally posted by TheAnhDy

I'm aware that Civic SI K20A3 have RSX Type S throttle body, intake manifold, and electric power steering system.
I just want to know if the internals are the same. Valves, valve springs, etc.
Some concrete knowledge evidence would greatly be appreciated.

i think macross misunderstood, or you edited. im too lazy to check. the a3 motors are the same internally. same ivtec same cams. differences are in ECU, intake manifold, and exhaust, but the motors are the exact same internally.
He was talking about when the guy started talking about the Type-S and SI stuff.Originally posted by rs_1101

PM bmx269, and ask him for da hook up :D
Please read the original post again.
I'm asking about base rsx k20a3 vs. civic si k20a3
I'm not asking about type s k20a2 vs. civic si k20a3
Yes I know none of the rsx have electric power steering system. I just worded it wrong, therefore the confusion.
Thank you

Anyway I tried to email you the PDF file on the SI, couldn't find the one I have on the RSX. So follow my instructions in my post above.
Geez, try to help some people :(
hahaha i'm sorry about the confusion my bad
are base rsx and si internals the same?
I thought rsx type s and si share identical intake manifold and throttle body. Plus si have electrical power steering system which none of the rsx's have. Sorry for the horrible wording beforeOriginally posted by Peking

Engine (block+head) internals = same on the base rsx & ep3, RSX-S has real vtec
IM & TB = same on RSX-S and EP3, base rsx has dual runners and a different TB
transmissions = type s is a 6 speed, ep3 & base rsx are both 5speeds, with the ep3 having the longer of the two in terms of gearing (or so i've heard, someone please correct me if i'm wrong)
hope that helps
the post was edited i was alil confuzed about the post myself
When you include the final drive ratio, the Si has shorter gears than the base RSX manual in every gear except 2nd, which the RSX wins by a hair. This assumes identical tire diameters.
Intake manifold's are are similiar, and the throttle body. RSX doesn't have our steering assist. I said 100$, didn't mean you were more than 80% correct :DOriginally posted by TheAnhDy

Do you mean "wins by a hair" cause of the gear ratio. Or do you mean will win in a run with a SI?Originally posted by smilla0

My reason of asking these questions is my car is at hondata getting kpro installion and tuning. I have a base rsx. I'm also boosted. Hondata is well under way with the development for the naturally aspirated base rsx kpro which you guys should head some news about in the near future. Thanks for the feedback
Getting the K-Pro huh, sweetness :D Boosted, who did you go with? Looking foward to the future I am ;)Originally posted by TheAnhDy
