    Great write up, How hard is this job to do. I need to replace some syncros in my tranny and I have someone that will do the job but doesn't have time to remove the tranny. You said that it was a 4 hour job, is that to remove and re install the tranny?

    I was thinking of doing this, I can do it in my garage.

    What do you think, anyone with some type of mechanical experience can do this?

    so basicly, once the engine is just chilling there gellin, you take the intermidiate shaft off by slipping it out, are you able to take the drivers side axel out as easy? or do i need the socket for the hub?

    I can get the tranny out in 1 hour flatyou can do it buddy. I have done a good number of them but still I say you can do it man. Just follow this is you get lost or stuck.

    I only took the axles out of the tranny and then let them rest on the ground still attached to the hub.

    thats what i figured, but there is really enough play to get them out? it seemed like there wouldnt be

    There is if you remove the lower control arms You have to remove those anyway if you are removing the subframe(atleast the way I do it).
