    Stock wheel weight/ Rota wheel weight

    Stock wheel with 195/60/15 rubber = 39.5lbs


    Rota "Spoom" with P700Z 205/50/15 = 32lbs


    P700Z on a real Spoon (Desmond's) 205/50/15 = 28.5lbs



    Some of you have no idea what 8lb savings of rotating mass can do for our cars.

    Speed and handling.



    P.S.
    18inch "bling, bling rice crap" can suck it.

    wrong profile tire, 205 55 15 is recomended. pirelli tires are heavier than kumho's?

    I will take a concrete tyre over a POS Kumho BTW.
    Not sure which is lighter.


    15's and 50 series go hand N hand in my garage, sorry you don't agree.

    what's up!

    the people at tirerack and discount tire, unless you want to throw off your speedometer and mileage.

    actually Kumho escta 712 handle better(rain) and are not as noisey as P700Z. P700Z tires are also cheaper than 712 and P700Z has a harder compound, they're still very good tires.

    I would take Pirelli's over any ruber! PERIOD!
    P7000 or the new PzeroNERO! Both would be an excellent choice. Both in 215/45/17 @ ~$145 ea.

    sorry, but you are incorrect.

    712's are the one of the loudest tyres I've every owned and their 280+ tread wear is not what i consider "harder" than the 700Z's 140 tread wear.



    best tyre for the buck ANYWHERE, period.

    WRONG

    Generally the higher this number the longer wearing (harder a tire is)

    so a 280 tire will last longer or be "harder" than a 140 tire.

    If you want 140 great, but don't trash a tire for being longer wearing than another

    205's are too small to retain stock gearing, I would like to see some pictures but unless the car is lowered alot it would look like a monster truck.

    I ran 205/50/15's Kumho victoracers in stock class and my car looked stupid. I run 225/50/15's now and they are just a bit smaller than stock about .3 inches, the 205's were over an inch smaller and almost 5% difference in the speedo reading. You should try to stay within 1% of stock.

    I didn't know stocks weighed that much. I was going to get some Racing Harts S7s in 17's with 205/40/17 tires (preferably kumho tires). Do you think those weigh less than stockies? - sorry i'm a n00b :D ;)

    Can you run 215/55/15s? Is that a rare size?

    That is a good question, Where I race, here in calgary with the Calgary sports car club we see some pretty high speeds, and we use 3rd gear often. We autocross on some wierd venues, a high banked oval and a road course. We alternate venues for events but we see pretty high speeds on the high banking, and on the back straight of the road coarse.

    As you all know we hit the rev limiter pretty early on this car so I haven't really noticed a difference in times. On "normal" autocross courses I think it would make a difference, but I changed to the 225's before doing any parking lot or airport events where the speeds are lower.

    I do! The difference is unbelievable -- turn in, acceleration, ride, you name it; 8lbs is a huge difference.

    well arn't you just the einstien.....some of us do understand the difference......but 205s are too small, for many reasons, not just gearing. I found that the roll over and wear was too much, this was related to the tire size. Our cars are very hard on front tires, this is because of the large 25.4mm sway bar and the small 15 mm rear and the weight on the front and the strut suspension.

    225, are a better choice because they do not roll over as much given the right pressure for the car. I have done much testing and can say this is so.

    You are right that lighter is better when it comes to rotational mass but there are other considerations.

    That being said 205, for street driveing would be better but with a higher aspect ratio. If you want to ride around on cookie cutters for street driving then go ahead.....it still looks like a monster truck.
